The past two days at work have really sucked. We had 72 modems smoke themselves into oblivion on monday night and had all of our denver dsl go down because an upstream provider didn’t pay it’s bills. This has generated an insane amount of work for me — not only work, but also *TONS* of irate people calling and bitching — it’s beating me to death. The dsl people have been the best, actually: many thanks.

So a customer comes in to the office around 5 today, and tells me how horrible we are and blah blah blah. He noticed that the modem bank went down monday night and tried to contact us — he thought we were market1 — the whois people are all wrong, qwest’s phone directory is wrong, blah blah blah. He comes up complaining about how no one ever notified him of anything. I pull up his e-mail box. Woo, IMAP. Search … … OH! Look, and e-mail from hpi@hpi.net telling everyone that MDI customers have been assumed by hpi. … he shut up real quick. he told me to cancel his account and then left. grr.

Well, i went to court this morning. It was an ass-raping, but at least they used lube — it wasn’t near as raw as it could be. Got there at 8:50am, and left there right around 10:45am. Loooong time. Anywho, the breakdown goes like so …

What I had:
Speeding – 72 in 35 – 6pts, $200 fine
Careless Driving – 4 pts, $200 fine
No Insurance – 30 Days jail time, $500 fine
Incorrect Registration – $100 fine

What I ended up getting:
Careless Driving – 3 points, $50 fine + $100 driving class.

Yes, I lucked out a lot, but I am still going to have to fight to keep my license — I’ll be lucky if I get to have a probationary one. So that’s the update. I’ll post more about my insane day, which involves smoke/fire and insane people, among other things. ’til later.

Well, to continue off what I left unfinished, I made this astonishing discovery [with steve’s help]. Not too long ago I went bitching about how Q Tips come apart and get all frizzy, and then I realized this — it gets all frizzy on one end because of the hand that’s doing the Q-Tip moving! See, I hold it between my fingers and kind of spin that bad boy around, and in the process loosen stuff that holds the cotton-part together! Try it and see!

So yea, I come home from church and steve is here. it is really cool to see him again after a long time of me being an ass and not going to denver to see him. because I am lazy. and dumb. but we know that, so it’s okay.

ahh yes, what a great day outside today — the weather was nice and balmy. steve just told me something very interesting, of which I will post later tonight, cuz he’s here and I don’t want to bore him with my typing. that is all. nothing to see here, move along.

Had the interview, it went well. I was extended an offer to be part of the Primerica team; I will do some more researching before I commit, although it looks good.

Went and saw Arsenic & Old Lace [a palmer high production] with craig — it was well done and I enjoyed myself [for a bunch of reasons]. After that, craig and I went with Jocelyn to Fargo’s, and then to a party up on flintridge & academy — it wasn’t very happenin, so I left around 2:15am. This girl Kendra wanted a ride home, so I said sure. She ended up driving my truck — it was cool cuz it’s been a long time since I’ve been chauffered around in my own truck. Then I came home, and here I am.

A while back I went to the perk w/ craig and tony and met these 3 girls who completely blew us off. tonight at the party, two of the girls were there — linda and beth #1. They didn’t recognize craig and I, but I knew it was them. freaky coincidence. Then get this, Kendra is John White’s sister — I know john through my brother through steve richards as well as through mike through the wirehouse. Isn’t that weird as hell? wowsah.

I’m off to my job interview for Primerica … let’s see how it goes.

Went out and saw ‘The Mummy 2’ with craig and matt byrne tonight after a long and extremely dull day at work. It was a good flick; not particularly choice, but enjoyable by all means. Prior to the movie, I picked up some nice brown skechers @ mervyn’s with matt — they are nice, and I like them. That’s about it …

I’m coming home from dropping off craig, and I’m coming up on the Fontanero exit ramp … except there isn’t a car exiting, there is a car coming onto the interstate. going north. the wrong way. head on into traffic. guy in front of me nailed his breaks, and I nailed mine … I ended up driving off the road and into the ditch on the right, and the guy in front of me had to swerve hella hard to miss the retard. The retard pulls off the road and turns around, and goes back up the exit ramp, and then pulls into a gas station. wtf. I am glad I have a truck and not some pos little car — at least I *could* pull of into the ditch. Some people just don’t know what’s going on.

So I’m getting gas last night at 7-11 [yes, it’s awful, isn’t it?] and I’m standing there, lazily letting the thing pump the gas for me, and this chevy truck pulls up. These two people get out of the truck … these aren’t any normal two people, these are gigantors of people — they must have weighed 400 pounds apeice. The truck moved noticably when they shifted their bulk. All I could think was ‘what kind of whack-ass shit made those people into that!?’ It hit me that their shirts alone could have clothed 3 poor immigrant families, and that their pants actually *were* parachutes, not just the style. I felt sorry for the twisted lump of metal they drove; it’s life expectancy is short, no doubt. I didn’t say anything, just kind of gaped in astonishment.

Craig is for sure moving into the geekpad … I fear we have lost his soul forever. Tony, afaik, is extending his lease on his place. I am not living with mike. So, that narrows down the possibility of getting a place with a friend to right about … oh … zero. I don’t know what I’ll do when august comes around — I’m thinking I’ll have to have some kind of game plan by june.

Anyone know of any good job opportunities that pay $10+ /hr? More money would be a great thing. let me know!

craig hung out at the geekpad all night, which gets me to thinking that I’m gonna need a place sometime soon. And if I’m going to get a place, I need $. I have decided that as soon as a better opportunity arises, my term at HPI will end. Which sucks, cuz then this page has to be moved and blah blah blah, but hey, that’s the breaks. It also gets me to thinkin’ … if craig moves in to the pad, he’ll have this whole new group of friends — that will be pretty cool getting to know all of them.

Talked to mike @ denny’s until 2am … it was good. Made a couple of decisions, like the job one, and generally just had a good time. I must buy shoes tomorrow; the ones I have get sopping wet very quickly, even in 1/2 inch of snow [suck!] Other than that, things are going well. ‘night
