The trip to Denver

I think I’ll post a little more about that … sometime during the trip, everyone was ragging on me about a lot of things, and Janelle brought up that I never bought her chocolate or did a lot of other things that I “should” have done, despite her distinctly telling me not to. Now, these things all hurt to hear, simply because it was “point out all of XXXXXXX’s faults” time, which is never enjoyable by XXXXXXX.

Well, if I do recall, I did buy Janelle chocolate on Valentine’s Day. In fact, I recall it quite clearly — I was another one of the male drones at the store doing the “walk to flower section, walk to chocolate section, give plastic, walk out door, go to her place, make her happy” routine … I recall talking to this guy in line about how it was kind of lame how everyone’s an automaton … he was wearing jeans, a black shirt, a leather jacket, had long gray hair, and rode a huge ass Harley; he thought it was rather odd that everyone is so brainwashed, including himself. I agreed. So yes, I have bought Janelle chocolate. I don’t know what she did with them, though. She told me to never buy her chocolate, and I’m guessing it’s because she wouldn’t eat it, but I don’t know — the valentine’s chocolates weren’t around very long.

Predator11: get lucky
rand0m: umm
rand0m: let me tell you, I’m trying.

actually concerning some counter-strike lag, but very funny if heard while yer mind is in the gutter [which mine perpetually is].

And a Sunday

So I didn’t get to sleep until 4:15am, as usual. [on a side note, I should really get to sleep earlier] Woke up at 8:52am, not really ready to face the world. Got all ready for church, ironed some clothes and called Willianne Burger to make sure she was going — no one answered, so I left a message [10:30am]. Call Jody, told him I’d be there at 12:10pm. Futzed around for a while, called Willy again, no answer, futzed, called again at 12:00pm, then left. Didn’t pick up Willy, but Jody and I had a good time getting up there.

We were early so I decided to take a detour to go say hi to Janelle. I ran inside, gave her a big hug and she dropped the hermit crab she was holding. I felt bad — can those thing survive five foot drops? I hope so … felt kinda stupid about making her drop the crab because of my hug, but hey, the hug was good ๐Ÿ˜‰

Church was okay. I zoned for a lot of it. I seem to be doing that a lot more — I don’t sleep, but I’m not really awake. I just kind of tune out everything. It’s relaxing. Anywho, church didn’t suck ass as much as it could have, but it wasn’t anything to rave about. Came home, dropped off Jody, am here.

I think I’ll eat something for today … I’m not hungry, but I think a cheese stick or taquito is in order.

a late one

Thought I’d put something up for the junkies =) Went out and saw Blow on friday night with craig janelle and tony — that’s a good movie, although parts of it are pretty lame. Johnny Depp doesn’t suck near as bad as he could have – I’d give it 3 1/2 stars. Janelle went home after the movie [ACTs the next morning], and tony and craig and I chilled at Pikes Perk, where we saw this 30+ lady urinate in the parking lot and proceed to get completely baked with some guy in a mercedes. It was quite odd. We also met a couple of girls, although a multitude of obtuse moves by the buffoons known as Craig and Tony killed any chances I had rather handily.

Today, after recovering from friday, the 4 of us got together again and went to denver. It was quite fun — we drove the whole way, having a good time, walked around LoDo and, aside from a twisted ankle, had a good time. I realized that I belong in a place like downtown denver; it seemed to call to me — it just struck a cord in me that said ‘this is right’ … I also recognized that I am hard up =(    Had a couple other realizations while I was there, none of which are near as good. After that, we went to Krispy Kremes, a donut shop that has lines 100 minutes long. It was fun – we got donuts, then drove to janelle’s house [from denver], made sure she was home by 12:00am, and then proceeded to just hang out at her house for an hour and a half. During the day trip, I realized how much it sucks to have lost what I had with Janelle; she is a really incredible girl and a great friend to boot. I also realized that Tony is a complete fruitcake, and Craig is a ‘bigger nerd than [me]’ which is kind of … … … bad? Here’s to hoping that somethings mend themselves and get off the rocks, while other things just start to look up.

On another note, I spent a lot of time researching traffic law and how to fight speeding tickets. I actually have an idea of what to do now in case el policia shows up to court. ‘night

jeeeeezus

It is a slow, boring friday. I want to take a nap, but there are some really mind-numbing tasks that I have to finish. [sigh]

I am awfully surprised to see that my hit counter has surpassed 800 — in such a short time, even. How long has this site been up? A month? hrmm … well, 800 isn’t that much then ๐Ÿ˜‰ I bet that at least 400 of them have been me, cuz I post, check how it looks, repost, look again, update the site, take a look … it’s probably more like 600 of the 800 are me. that’s kind of depressing, but at least I know that I think I’m popular =)

Still nothing to do … why aren’t you people beating down my door? I have the feeling that I might drive to denver and spend the weekend there. Or in Boulder. Tony, if you read this, want to get some crispy cream things in denver this weekend? hrmm

Damn

Damn, I slept poorly last night. Not real keen on why, but I did wake up at 6:30 and was actually on time to work. I think coffee will get me through the morning. I finished all my laundry which is nice — I have clothes to wear today, and I wouldn’t have them if I wouldn’t have done laundry. Typing that was annoying.

Man, what is up with the wind? It’s blowing really hard all over … I dislike wind. I dislike wind more than I dislike snow, and even more than I dislike it being blazingly hot. I think I’ll learn all about wind today.

I have no plans for tonight. It’s friday night, and I have nothing to do. [sigh] If you have plans and would like to include me, please call me. or aim me. or e-mail me. please? i don’t want to end up at the perk all night reading my book ๐Ÿ˜‰

Something’s going on

I don’t know what’s going, but there is some hella big crisis in utah; my dad has been on the phone since I got home [about 3 hours ago] … I would have updated, but I couldn’t — please forgive me, dear followers. Todays Topics are varied in both direction and length. Crack open a cold one and enjoy.

This morning I had perhaps the best shit of my entire life. ‘Nuff said.

I didn’t show up to work until 10:40. Oddly, my boss [jef] asked my why I was ‘late’ … I replied ‘for my wage, I’m right on time.’ … I don’t think he took that too well. Hrmm … the really screwed up part is that I know they won’t fire me, and I know they know this. Makes me wonder exactly how I’m seen around there. Oh well.

A ‘scumbag’ originally referred to a used condom. [old quote]

Revelation x 2: I have this personality flaw, and I need to resolve it. I have the extremely bad habit of judging what is best for others and acting to further that resolution — i.e. jumping in on other people’s business ‘for their own good’ … Seriously, this has got to stop. People, if I jump in your business, tell me to back the fuck off. if that doesn’t work, resort to physical measures. I’m not joking — it’s really bad of me. I talk about how I hate how uncle sam can spend my money better than I can, and then I turn around and act like I can run people’s lives better than they can. That is not only backwards, but it’s also very, very wrong. Give me a hand in not doing ‘what’s best for you.’

That’s all for now. Maybe a little more, if I find some interesting things … after the laundry is done.

revelation

The revelation that I am a complete and utter computer guy hit me today. I am not really happy about this, but it’s how it is … I go over to Capin-Crouse today because their router is not working … at all. They had dangling phone lines and a router. That’s it. I spent almost 4 hours making & running cable, setting up their connection, taking off sprint broadband, setting up their DNS, setting up their proxy blah blah blah. Just a lot … the head network Admin there is “A+ Certified” … he had absolutely no idea what I was doing … he just kind of stood around waiting for me to ask him to do something. This realization that I am approaching hardcoreness scares me.

I also realized that I did not build archving into my news script, which makes it tough to do archives; everything is stored in a database, and not in actual HTML. I’ll have to think that one through.

Loooong Night

I haven’t slept yet … I have been awake for the past … how ever many hours … coding my very own News Posting Script … it makes things *super* easy on me to administer, as it’s all in one tidy database, and it also has support for comments! really rockin, I’m telling you. It will be a while before I get it to look right, but it is really cool. It’s 400k of pure rand0m programming =)

Take a look and post some comments … www.hpi.net/rand0m/poster/default.asp … I am off for 45 minutes while I sleep.

scip :-|

Well, I went to the party for SCIP, and it got trashed pretty bad. When I left at 8:15, it was losing by 12%, with 96% of the precincts counted. I’m fairly certain it lost, which is kind of sad, but hey, no skin off my back. The party was nice, though; I met the mayor, a bunch of city council people … it was pretty cool to hobnob with all the movers and the shakers of our community here.

That’s about it today of things I want to post about … maybe a little more later tonight, if I feel up to it.

SCIP & day

The whole Springs City Improvements Program party is tonight. They plan on having poll results by 7:00 — which is when the party starts. I am invited to come, as I am the web developer for scip.net, the project’s website. I don’t know if I will attend; it seems rather posh, what with the whole city’s government there … also, no one I know will be there, which sucks.

Today has been another one of those days … I had my share of free time, which i gladly spent outside in the extremely nice weather, but there was a lot of grindstone work. Things have smoothed out quite a bit here — we don’t recieve hundreds of phone calls a day anymore, maybe 20. It is nice … i’m going to go waste some time before the party, or go home.
